LAMPASAS, Texas — Some residents in Lampasas have been evacuated after an alleged shooting in the northwest area of the city, police said on Thursday, July 25.
The Lampasas Police Department stated they received a call about shots fired from the northwest part of town around 2 p.m. Authorities were able to identify the suspect in a home near the shooting and began to contact the suspect while other officers evacuated nearby residents.
Just after 11:50 p.m., officers on scene confirmed that the stand-off had ended, and the suspect had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police say the area where the standoff and shooting took place will be actively investigated as a crime scene for "some time."
The identity of the individual that died was not revealed.
