NAVASOTA, Texas — A Navasota Police Officer was investigating a crash in the 1000 block of Church Street on Thursday, Aug. 1, around 3 p.m. After the investigation, the officer noticed a parked vehicle with a strong odor of Marijuana.
The driver attempted to flee in his vehicle, but instead, chose to run on foot. The officer chased the driver and requested assistance. The driver was seen going through a business and crossing over a fence into a residential backyard. Shortly after, officers found the driver hiding in a storage shed and was taken into custody. He has been identified as 34-year-old Dexter Pratt, according to police.
Pratt was taken back to his car where police did a search of the vehicle and seized over 24 ounces of marijuana, 19 grams of crack cocaine and evidence of narcotics distribution, police say.
Pratt was charged with Evading Arrest/Detention with Prior Conviction, Possession of Marijuana and Delivery of a Controlled Substance.
