Police pursuit in Lorena leads to drugs being found, police say

Police said they believe the engine of the vehicle was stolen out of Dallas.

LORENA, Texas — A police pursuit in Lorena led to illegal drugs being found on Thursday, Aug. 15, according to the Lorena Police Department.

Lorena PD stated Officer Greer stopped a vehicle on I-35 in the early morning of Aug. 15, but the driver "sped off" as Greer got out of his vehicle, leading to a chase.

Because of the "speeds and circumstances" involved in the chase, Greer ended the pursuit, police said.

With the help of the Waco Police Department, Lorena PD said Greer was able to locate the vehicle at an apartment complex in Waco.

Illegal drugs were found in the car, according to police, and a suspect was "developed". The vehicle was reportedly towed with a hold placed on it.

Lorena Police stated the engine of the vehicle was determined to have been stolen out of Dallas. Detectives from the Dallas Police Department have reportedly joined the investigation.

Lorena PD said the case is active and a suspect is known at this time.
