Killeen Police chase ends in death of 20-year-old solider

The vehicle crashed into a utility pole and jumped over railroad tracks, resulting in the death of the soldier.

KILLEEN, Texas — A fight turned into police chase ended with the death of a 20-year-old solider early on Sunday morning, according to the Killeen Police Department.

Killeen PD originally were called to the BluPrint Lounge because of a fight involving weapons. When officers arrived, one of suspects fled in a red 2017 Chevrolet Camaro.

Shortly after, police found the same car in the 100 block of S Twin Creek Drive, crashed after hitting a utility pole and jumping over railroad tracks, police say.

The driver, a 20-year-old solider stationed at Fort Cavazos, was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.

The crash caused temporary road closures but are now open. Killeen PD urge anyone with information regarding the crash to contact the department at 254-501-8830 as they continue to investigate.
