WACO, Texas — In Waco, justice was served to three victims after Nathan Mennenga sexually abused them as children. He was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on charges of 'Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under the Age of 14'.
This comes after a 14-year-old victim testified against Mennenga that he sexually abused her as a child. She said that the abuse happened in 2016 and 2020 when she visited Mennenga in Waco from out-of-state.
A second victim, who is now a woman, testified about how Mennenga allegedly abused her as a child in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. When she was a teenager, she reported the abuse but the case didn't go forward because investigators believed there was not enough evidence to charge Mennenga.
In court, Mennenga testified against both victims saying they were lying about him sexually abusing them.
That is when prosecutors brought out the third victim who Mennenga also abused as a child. She spoke up about the abuse when she became a woman but she was not believed so, she did not report it, according to documents.
The jury found him guilty on Sept. 24.
“Justice was delayed for decades. Justice was denied when the second victim’s case was not pursued. Today, justice has been delivered. On behalf of these courageous survivors, we are grateful to the jury," said Assistant District Attorneys Jessica Washington & Luke McCowan.
