Man shot to death at night club in Killeen found at convenience store, police looking for suspect

Police said the 20-year-old victim was shot and killed at Club Dreams on Fort Hoods St.

KILLEEN, Texas — Update: The victim, Shelby Jones, was later discovered to have been shot at Club Dreams located at 4300 S. Fort Hood Street. 

A Fort Hood soldier was shot and killed early Sunday morning near Mickey's convenience store in Killeen, according to a press release from the Killeen Police Department.

Police said they were called to the store at 3200 S. Fort Hood Road around 3 a.m.

Police found Spc. Shelby Jones, 20, with a gunshot wound. They tried to save him before paramedics arrived but he died at the scene, police said.

Jones entered the Army in May 2017 as a cavalry scout and has been assigned to the 3rd Cavalry Regiment since August 2018, according to a Fort Hood press release.

Jones deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve from May 2018 – January 2019.

Jones’ awards and decorations include the Global War on Terrorism Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.

The incident is under investigation by the Killeen Police Department, according to the Fort Hood press release.

Police said anyone with information about the case should call Bell County Crime Stoppers at 254-526-8477.
