MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — A man has been arrested in Utah for allegedly making a threat against a McLennan County, TX school, according to a release by the McLennan County Sheriff's Office (MCSO).
According to MSCO, the office was contacted on Jan. 24, 2024, regarding a threat made against a school in McLennan County through a "social networking application".
The office said Sheriff's Deputies discovered that the unknown person had made threats of violence against several people, as well as the school, in an alleged attempt to exploit a minor.
Sheriff's Deputies, alongside personnel from the FBI, were able to obtain the identity and location of the suspect, said MSCO.
The McLennan County Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Kyle Nielsen.
Deputies reportedly obtained an arrest warrant for Terroristic Threat for Nielsen and coordinated with the Sandy, Utah Police Department, who they say arrested Nielsen for the warrant on Jan. 25.
MSCO said Sandy PD conducted a search warrant on Nielsen's home on Jan. 26, during which they reportedly seized "multiple electronic devices".
Sheriff's Deputies are reportedly still investigating the exploitation of a minor and said future charges are pending.
MSCO thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team (VFAST) and the City of Sandy, Utah Police Department for their assistance.
McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said this is a "direct result" of the Shoot Threat/Safety Program started within the MSCO Criminal Intelligence Unit.
