Killeen man facing murder charge following fatal stabbing in Nolanville

According to Nolanville PD, Ernesto Leonardo Hernandez-Vargas turned himself in after the fatal stabbing took place.

NOLANVILLE, Texas — A Killeen man that turned himself in after police opened an investigation into a fatal stabbing in Nolanville is being charged with murder.

According to the Nolanville Police Department, they were notified of a stabbing around 8:38 p.m. on Monday, July 22 in the 200 block of West Dogwood. When officers arrived at the scene, they gave the victim medical attention before paramedics arrived to look at him. 

After being taken to a local hospital, the victim, identified as Devin Ellis, died from his injuries.

As authorities were investigating the stabbing, they named Ernesto Leonardo Hernandez-Vargas, a Hispanic male from Killeen, as the suspect. Hernandez-Vargas turned himself into the Temple Police Department after the stabbing took place, and was taken into custody to the Bell County Jail afterwards by Nolanville PD.

The day after the stabbing, Hernandez-Vargas was charged with murder for his role in the stabbing and had his bond set at $1 million by Bell County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Cliff Coleman.
