Man arrested, charged with 2020 shooting death of Killeen woman

Killeen PD say he shot and killed Tonya Denise Dixon in a home in the 300 block of S. 10th Street on Dec. 17, 2020 around 9:15 p.m.

KILLEEN, Texas — More than three years after a 45-year-old woman was murdered in Killeen, the Killeen Police Department announced Tuesday that they arrested a man in connection to her death.

On Monday, Feb. 12, an arrest warrant was issued for 43-year-old Mark Anthony Hamilton. Killeen PD say he shot and killed Tonya Denise Dixon in a home in the 300 block of S. 10th Street on Dec. 17, 2020 around 9:15 p.m.

At the time of her death, police did not have any suspect information or leads and a reward was offered for any information about the shooting. Police also did not release information that led to the shooting.

Authorities found Hamilton in the 1000 block of Willow Springs Road and arrested him without issue, police say. He was later taken to the Bell County Jail with a bond set at $1 million.

According to Dixon's obituary, she attended schools in Killeen ISD. She left behind two children and has family in Killeen. Her hobbies included making stylish wigs.
