LORENA, Texas — The Lorena Fire Department posted to social media Monday to warn residents about a scammer that's impersonating them and asking for monetary donations.
A Lorena resident was called by someone pretending to be from the fire department and asked for donations, and insisted on getting credit card information over the phone, Lorena FD said.
Lorena FD stressed they never call people for donations.
Instead, all donations can be made at their website, mailed through USPS, or brought to the station.
"We appreciate the citizen notifying us of this incident and thank you for your ongoing support," the department said.
