KILLEEN, Texas — A man is dead after being shot in Killeen late Wednesday night, according to the Killeen Police Department.
That night, around 10:40 p.m., 911 informed officers learned that a man had been shot in the 800 block of West Avenue D. The 37-year-old man that police discovered had been shot was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White in critical condition, but was unable to survive his injuries.
The victim was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey at 6:34 a.m. on Thursday. His name is being withheld until next of kin is notified. An autopsy has also been ordered at the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
Police say there is no threat to the community in relation to the shooting.
In an update on Friday, Oct. 18, Killeen Police say they are looking to identify two bicyclists that were seen in the area.
KPD says surveillance footage showed two individuals on bikes, one on an electric bicycle with a headlight and taillight, while the other was on a pedal bicycle without any lights.
