KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Police Department is investigating a shooting that left both the victim and suspect dead on Wednesday, April 17.
According to police, around 2:48 p.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of Taree Loop to the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from gunshot wounds, according to police.
Police say there was no suspect on the scene, but soon after the incident the suspect called 9-1-1 and told them about their involvement.
According to police, Copperas Cove police officers found the suspect's car and made a traffic stop in Lampasas County. During the stop, police say the suspect refused to get out of the car and eventually shot themselves.
The Killeen Police Department says no officer fired their weapons during this incident and the Lampasas County Sheriff's Department and the Texas Rangers are conducting the death investigation.
Police say the names of those involved will be released at a later date.
