KILLEEN, Texas — The Killeen Police Department (KPD) arrested and charged 24-year-old Dimani Phillip Gaddis with the murder of 68-year-old Vivian Delois McClain when he was seen burglarizing multiple vehicles in the area of a murder on Sunday, Aug. 25.
Gaddis was previously arrested on other unrelated charges and in the Bell County Jail. Justice of the Peace Larry Wilkey arraigned Gaddis and set his bond at $1,250,000.
KPD obtained reports and videos of a man burglarizing vehicles in the area of Old FM 440 and Andover Drive, police say. Later that night, police responded to a call about a shooting in the same area near the 2300 block of Andover Drive around 4:30 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found an unconscious woman -- later identified as McClain -- shot inside a crashed vehicle in the 1000 block of Westover Drive. She was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Nicola James 5:04 a.m., police say.
