KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen Police have confirmed the deaths of two individuals that were shot in the evening on Monday, July 22 were a murder-suicide.
Authorities initially stated that they were conducting a death investigation Monday evening in the 1300 block of Karen Drive, also noting that there was no threat to the public. More details were provided in an update on Tuesday, July 23.
In Tuesday's update, KPD said they initially went to the area where the crime was reported for a "domestic disturbance involving an armed subject." When officers arrived on scene, they found a 28-year-old woman and 29-year-old man had been shot dead.
Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced the victims, Tanesha Sedwich, 28, and Walter Sedwich, 29, dead at 8:46 p.m. and 8:48 p.m. respectively. Autopsies have also been ordered on both of them at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.
A spokesperson for KPD confirmed that the incident was a murder-suicide and that Walter Sedwich also killed their two dogs.
