New rules for Killeen ISD football games after fights result in officer injured, 1 arrested

The person arrested was not a student and was arrested for having a weapon in a prohibited place, according to the district.

KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen ISD is implementing new student rules at football games following the arrest of a non-student spectator with a weapon and multiple fights breaking out following a football game at Joseph L. Searles III Stadium on Sep. 19.

According to the district, a KISD Police Department officer discovered a non-student spectator with a weapon. This person was arrested and will be charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in a prohibited place.

Additionally, multiple fights broke out after the game outside the stadium and an officer was injured trying to break them up, the district said.

Due to these events, the district is implementing the following rules:

  • All KISD secondary students must have their student ID for entry into football games unless accompanied by an adult chaperone. The student ID must be worn and visible while the student is on district property.
  • All KISD secondary students not accompanied by an adult chaperone will enter the stadium through a designated student gate. The student ID must be worn and visible at all times.
  • Students from non-participating schools must be accompanied by an adult chaperone.
  • On the home side: Only KISD students may sit in the student section. Students may only sit in the general admission section if accompanied by an adult chaperone.
  • Throughout the event, KISD students must remain in the student section unless they are using the restroom or in line for concessions. The number of students allowed in the concession line will be limited to help with crowd control. After finishing in the restroom or concessions, students must return immediately to the student section.
  • Any student not complying with these expectations or any directive from district administrators will be escorted out of the game.

The district also adds that their clear bag policy remains in effect.

Superintendent Dr. Jo Ann Fey reiterates that the safety of the students, staff and the community is their top priority and that the students and community deserve a great game day experience.
