Killeen PD: One discovered dead in late-night shooting

Police say the shooting occurred in the 100 block of East Halmark Avenue around 11 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 8.

KILLEEN, Texas — A man is dead in what Killeen Police are calling a murder that took place late at night on Thursday, Aug. 8.

According to KPD, around 10:57 p.m. that evening, calls came in from the area near the 100 block of East Hallmark Avenue of shots fired and a man being down. When officers arrived at where the shots were reported from, they found the victim, whose name has not been revealed and is pending notification of next of kin, shot dead in a parking lot.

The victim was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Nicola James at 11:08 p.m.

Police say they are investigating the case as a murder and are asking those who have any information on the murder to contact Crime Stoppers at 254-526-TIPS (8477) or to submit tips at bellcountycrimestoppers.com or on the P3Tips App. A reward of up to $1,000 is being provided for those that provide tips that lead to an arrest.
