Juvenile charged with third-degree felony after making phone call threat to Bryan ISD middle school

Police say the juvenile that made the phone call admitted to the threat and was arrested and charged with a third-degree felony of Terroristic Threat.

BRYAN, Texas — A juvenile has been arrested after making a "threatening phone call" to a Bryan ISD campus on Nov. 14.

According to a release from the Bryan Police Department on Friday, Nov. 22, the school received the call around 3:30 p.m. and was put on SECURE protocol, which delayed class dismissal. Bryan PD officers responded to the call and surveyed the area to ensure it was safe and that nobody was harmed during school dismissal.

In an investigation following the incident, police say the Criminal Investigation Division and Texas Department of Public Safety were able to determine that the call was made from outside the Brazos Valley, and the individual that made the phone call, identified as a juvenile, wasn't within the Bryan city limits when they made it.

Police say the juvenile is not a student of Bryan ISD and admitted to his involvement in the threatening phone call in a statement to investigators after the incident occurred. The juvenile surrendered himself to officials on Nov. 21 after a case was presented to the Brazos County District Attorney's Office to have him apprehended.

The juvenile and his family cooperated with investigators before being taken into custody and later released to the county juvenile detention center. He has been charged with a third-degree felony of Terroristic Threat, according to police.
