FREESTONE COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Rangers are currently investigating the death of an inmate at the Freestone County Jail, according to the Freestone County Sheriff's Office (FCSO).
The Sheriff's Office and EMS reportedly responded to an unresponsive inmate on Sunday, Aug. 11. According to FCSO, the person was found dead.
Freestone County Sheriff Jeremy Shipley reportedly asked the Texas Rangers to investigate the death.
No cause of death has been released at this time. FCSO said more information will be released as the investigation concludes.
The family of the inmate has been notified, according to the Sheriff's Office.
