Ignite Learning Academy teacher arrested after child hospitalized for "unusual lethargy"

Jasmine Collum, 24, was arrested for Injury to a Child, according to Temple Police.

TEMPLE, Texas — A teacher at Ignite Learning Academy in Temple was arrested after an investigation connected to a three-month old child was taken to a children's specialty clinic for "showing unusual lethargy."

According to the Temple Police Department, around 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 16, officers responded to a welfare concern that involved a three-year old child at the Baylor Scott and White McLane Children's Specialty Clinic in town after they were brought in from Ignite Learning Academy in Temple around 4 p.m. that afternoon for "showing unusual lethargy" after being dropped off at Ignite Learning Academy for daycare around 8 a.m. that morning.

TPD and Child Protective Services (CPS) are working together on the case and have arrested Jasmine Collum, 24, who was a teacher at Ignite Learning Academy. She is being charged with injury to a child.
