Suspect in stable condition after Sunday afternoon police chase that started in Hillsboro

The Hillsboro Department of Public Safety says the suspect was flown to a hospital in Dallas area after the crash happened.

HILLSBORO, Texas — A suspect was injured in a high-speed pursuit that started in Hillsboro and ended in Milford in Ellis County Sunday afternoon.

According to the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety, around 3:15 p.m. that day, an officer spotted a Dodge truck speeding on Waco Street and looked to stop the driver, but they took off, fleeing north on Highway 77 out of the Hillsboro city limits.

Hillsboro DPS says the suspect drove recklessly and on the wrong side of the road while on the way to Ellis County and into the Milford city limits, eventually losing control in a single-vehicle rollover crash.

Authorities say the suspect was airlifted to a hospital in the Dallas area after being given medical treatment. They are in stable condition, police say.

The crash is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety Highway Patrol and the pursuit is being investigated by the Hillsboro Department of Public Safety to understand the full timeline of events during the incident.
