MILAM COUNTY, Texas — A man was airlifted to a hospital after a high-speed chase through Lee and Milam Counties Sunday night, according to the Milam County Sheriff's Office.
Around 11:30 p.m., the Lee County Sheriff's Office informed the Milam County Sheriff's Office of a high-speed pursuit that began in south Lexington and was headed across county lines.
Deputies with the Rockdale Police Department and Milam County Sheriff's Office set up spike strips on US 77 north to stop the pursuit. As the car approached authorities from the community of Minerva, the driver and car went off the road near River Ridge Road and crashed.
The driver, who was the only person in the car, was airlifted to the hospital. The sheriff's office says Lee County authorities will release more information on the arrest as well as charges since they are taking the lead in the case.
The name of the driver was not revealed by officials.
