Two arrested after leading police on chase through Grimes, Waller counties

One of the arrested suspects threw objects out of the front passenger window that were later revealed to be suspected narcotics.

PLANTERSVILLE, Grimes County — A man and woman were arrested Wednesday morning after leading police on a pursuit through multiple counties.

According to the Grimes County Sheriff's Office, investigators spotted a blue Chrysler minivan in the Plantersville area around 9:10 a.m. that day while looking for a wanted man, Darrell Edwin Hemann. Officials tried to stop the car he was in, but he ended up fleeing from the deputy that attempted to pull him over.

The pursuit made its way westbound on County Road 302 and later southbound on FM 1774 at high speed, with Hemann disregarding traffic lights and reaching speeds of over 100 mph without regard for other drivers on the road. The chase later made its way into Waller County, where other police forces--Navasota Police, Waller County Sheriff's Office, and Department of Public Safety Troopers--responded to the pursuit that was in progress.

The other individual in the car, later identified by officials as Shandi Imhoff, tried to toss a few objects out of the minivan's front passenger window, which were later revealed to be suspected narcotics. Some of the items that were recovered by officers included suspected meth, heroin, a pellet gun, and a cap gun alongside other items.

Imhoff and Hemann were eventually arrested after being evaluated by Emergency Medical Services.

According to the GSCO, Hemann was arrested for a parole violation and Delivery of a Controlled Substance in an amount between 4 and 200 grams. Imhoff was charged with Tampering with Evidence, a third-degree felony.

Officials say additional charges are pending.
