COPPERAS COVE, Texas — The Copperas Cove Police Department arrested three men after they allegedly opened fire on a home in the 2400 block of Spirit Dancer Drive on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
According to police, at around 9:38 p.m., officers received a call about the shooting. The caller witnessed the car speed away from the home and gave officers a description and direction of travel.
Upon arrival, officers could see that numerous rounds had hit the home and they also found shotgun shells on the ground nearby. According to police, there were six adults and four minors in the home at the time, none were injured.
Not long after the investigation began, officers were able to find the suspect car at a home in the 1100 block of South 23rd Street and identified three adult suspects as 32-year-old Robert Wayne Darley, 31-year-old Chance Taylor Fountaine and 24-year-old Shields Michael Chambers.
Additionally, officers discovered that there was a minor in the car with the suspects when the shooting took place and that it stemmed from a previous altercation.
According to police, each suspect was charged with the following offences:
- Deadly Conduct Discharge Firearm
- Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity
- Tampering Physical Evidence
- Five Counts of Abandon/Endanger a Child
- Six Counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
On Feb. 29, all three suspects were arraigned, receiving a total bond of $650,000.
