Buckholts Police vehicle involved in car accident

All four people involved are okay, according to Texas DPS.

BUCKHOLTS, Texas — Texas DPS responded to a two-car accident involving a City of Buckholts Police vehicle on Saturday at SH 36 and Cemetery road in Milam County.

The accident involved a 2021 Dodge Charger and 2023 Mitsubishi SUV. The Mitsubishi failed to yield right of way at a stop intersection and pulled into the path of the Charger. The two cars crashed and the Mitsubishi rolled onto its side, according to Texas DPS.

Buckholts Police Chief Shawn Newsom says the police car was the charger and they're not pressing charges. "Truly was an accident," he said. "Perfect storm... with the sun coming up, that's why we call them accidents. We're glad everybody's okay... we can replace metal."

The drive of the Charger, a 32-year-old male, was taken to the hospital with non-incapacitating injuries and the driver of the Mitsubishi and its two passengers were not injured.
