BELTON, Bell County — Three individuals were arrested Sunday morning and Monday morning after leading authorities on pursuits in Bell County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The Sunday morning pursuit started when DPS Troopers went to investigate a call that came in about a stolen gray 2011 Dodge Challenger near Auction Barn Road and Loop 121. Belton Police were able to locate the stolen car and attempted to stop the driver, but they fled northbound on Loop 121.
A DPS Trooper was able to spot the stolen Challenger going south on IH-35 in Belton and continued the pursuit. The driver continued to try to get away from authorities, turning north onto Connell Street. However, the driver lost control and rolled onto its left side on Kegley Road.
EMS checked the 13-year-old juvenile driver and 18-year-old passenger before they were taken to local hospitals for evaluation before being taken into custody. No injuries were reported and the identities of the two involved in the pursuit were not revealed.
The other pursuit that authorities were involved in happened early Monday morning after a DPS Trooper stopped a white Ford Fusion for an expired registration on Interstate 14 in Belton.
When the DPS officer got out of their car to conduct the traffic stop, the driver sped away, exceeding 100 mph in an attempt to get away.
The officer gave chase as the Ford took the 190-west exit towards Lampasas and headed onto the service road but crashed over multiple curbs and a small embankment.
Witnesses that saw the scene unfold stated that the driver tried to continue getting away on foot, but was found nearby in the woods.
While the identity of the driver was not provided, she was identified as a 37-year-old female from Temple that matched a description witnesses gave officers. She admitted to taking multiple pills while attempting to get away from authorities.
The woman was taken to Metroplex ER in Killeen for medical treatment. DPS says "multiple charges" will be filed once the woman is released.
