Former Central Texas priest indicted again by McLennan County Grand Jury

The indictment is the second this month, with the first taking place on Sept. 12.

WACO, Texas — Editor's Note: The attached video aired on Sept. 12.

Anthony Odiong, the former McLennan County priest that was indicted earlier in the month on multiple counts of sexual assault, has once again been indicted by a Grand Jury.

Odiong was arrested in Ave Maria, Florida on July 16 for allegedly being in possession of child pornography. Odiong was reportedly held in the Collier County Jail in Florida until he was brought back to McLennan County.

The former catholic priest's indictment from Thursday morning was for four additional first-degree felony sexual assault charges, which the Waco Police Department says came from a survivor that was already identified as officials were investigating Odiong's actions.

According to Waco PD, the discovered charges came from emails, text messages, and other "predatory behaviors" that Odiong exhibited dating back over a decade.

Odiong's ties to McLennan County include his time as a priest at St. Peters Catholic Student Center in Waco and St. Mary's of the Assumption in West. He served at the two parishes from 2007 to 2012. Police say Odiong also served in Luling, Louisiana from around 2015 to 2023.

Police say that in addition to the indictment from a McLennan County Grand Jury Thursday morning, the McLennan County District Attorney's Office is also considering whether or not to seek indictments in other counties.

When he was previously indicted, law firm Callahan & King has announced that they plan to go forward with legal action against Odiong and the Catholic Diocese of Austin on behalf of a survivor.

Waco PD says they are still seeking stories and accounts from victims and survivors of Odiong's actions, regardless of where they may be located across the U.S. Police say 10 victims have been identified so far, and they urge anyone else that has been a victim of Odiong to come forward by contacting Det. Bradley DeLange at 254-750-7609.
