Waco Police Department announces Jared Wallace as new Assistant Chief

As Assistant Chief, he will lead the Investigations Command.

WACO, Texas — The City of Waco announced the promotion of Jared Wallace to Assistant Chief of Police on Friday, July 5. 

As Assistant Chief, he will lead the Investigations Command.

Wallace, who has been with the Waco Police Department since 1991, has built a distinguished career in community-oriented and problem-oriented policing.

Wallace's experience includes roles as a Patrol Officer, Housing-Bicycle Patrol Officer, SWAT Operator, and Neighborhood Policing Officer. His leadership journey began in October 1999 when he was promoted to Sergeant. In this capacity, he led teams within the Neighborhood Policing Unit, the SAFE Unit, and the SWAT Team.

In March 2021, Wallace advanced to the rank of Commander, overseeing the Criminal Investigations Division and the Community Services Division. 

Wallace's service has earned him numerous awards, including the Medal of Valor, the Life Saving Award, and the Supervisor of the Year Award. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with an Emphasis on Leadership from Texas A&M University-Commerce.

Earlier this week, Wallace's promotion to Assistant Chief of Police was celebrated, with his badge pinned by his oldest son, United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Hunter Wallace.
