WOODWAY, Texas — Central Texas foodies — listen up!
A new food hall has officially opened up in Woodway off U.S. Highway 84.
Union Grove is the sister concept to Union Hall, which is located in downtown Waco.
Both locations are operated and owned by Union Brands, which provide a space for local vendors to come in and share their unique dishes with customers.
Pop's Lemonade owner Omari Head chose to be a Union Grove vendor because it helps broaden his customer base.
"This location is perfect because it gives us access to the rest of Waco," Head said. "I mean this is a growing area. Woodway, McGregor, Hewitt, all those, and it gives us locals somewhere to set up shop so people don't have to come all the way downtown just to find us. It's awesome because we all have a lot of customers out in these areas."
Vendors aren't the only ones excited about the location. Some customers, like Hogan Akin, came out to the urban eatery and shared their enthusiasm with 6 News.
"I'm just glad that there's like an urban eatery so close, I'm not gonna have to drive so far," Akin said.
Another customer, Julie Aki, said the facility's atmosphere brings diversity to the area.
"I think it's great that so many different types of food, different types of people are coming together," Aki said. "It's just the thing that brings the community together."
Cameron Akin gave 6 News similar commentary of his experience on opening day.
"It's just really nice to have the Union Brands so close," Akin said. "Plus, there's just a lot more options to eat. I'm just really excited to try some new food and some new brands."
As of now there are 13 vendors at Union Grove, deemed as the founding ones, but there are more vendors expected to be opening up in the near future.
