TEMPLE, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation will start a widening project on NW H K Dodgen Loop in northwest Temple this Monday, June 3.

The construction will stretch from W Nugent Avenue eastward to Range Road near the railroad.

The project aims to enhance connectivity and increase capacity in the area by constructing four mainlanes—two in each direction—within the project limits. This will include bridges at Lucius McCelvey Road and Industrial Boulevard.

Additionally, new U-turns will be built at the new interchanges, similar to those at SL 363 and Wendland Road.

James Construction Group, LLC, has been contracted for the nearly $54 million project, which is scheduled for completion in fall 2027, contingent on favorable field conditions.

TxDOT advises drivers to exercise caution and wear seat belts when driving through work zones.
