Two teenagers injured during Exxon gas station explosion in Rogers

The two victims were taken to a local hospital with serious burns.

ROGERS, Texas — A 13 and 16 year old were injured in a gas station explosion that took place late Thursday night in Rogers, according to Bell County fire marshal Shane Geers.

Geers says the explosion took place at an Exxon gas station located on 120 W Mesquite Ave at about 8:49 p.m.

According to officials, the two victims were inside washing their car, as a fuel tanker was unloading into the fuel tanks.

Geers says the cause of the explosion has yet to be determined, but it has been determined that the explosion has nothing to do with any natural gas utility lines.

The two victims were taken to a local hospital with serious burns, but were later released.

Firefighters are still working to confirm the condition of the fuel tanker driver and whether other people were inside the gas station during the explosion.

As of Friday, Jan. 19 at 3 p.m., Geers says the point of origin of the explosion occurred in a storage unit inside of the carwash.

The state's fire marshal office is continuing to investigate.
