WACO, Texas — In response to recent burglaries targeting local businesses and resulting in financial losses, authorities are urging business owners to enhance their crime prevention measures.

The Waco Police Department issued a set of guidelines aimed at reducing the vulnerability of businesses to break-ins.

Outlined in the advisory, business owners are encouraged to equip their properties with safety measures such as Charlie bars, hinge pins, or locking pins on windows to stop unauthorized entry.

Additionally, the installation and maintenance of surveillance cameras are emphasized as crucial tools for aiding investigations in the event of a burglary.

Moreover, the use of motion sensors and burglary alarms is highlighted as essential for ensuring swift response and intervention in case of a security breach.

Business owners are also urged to safeguard valuable assets by either removing them from the premises or securely storing them behind locked doors in safes.

To assist business owners in their security measures, the Waco Police Department is offering complimentary onsite security surveys.

Owners can schedule an appointment by contacting the department at 254-750-7500.
