Temple prepares for total solar eclipse: community town halls announced

Scheduled for various dates and locations, residents are invited to attend these public gatherings.

TEMPLE, Texas — The City of Temple is gearing up for the upcoming total solar eclipse with three town hall meetings to inform and engage the community.

Scheduled for various dates and locations, residents are invited to attend these public gatherings to learn about the solar eclipse and address any inquiries they may have. 

The town hall meetings will feature Temple's Emergency Management Coordinator, who will provide insights on what the eclipse entails, how to safely view it, and tips for preparation.

Factors such as traffic congestion and heavy cell phone usage are expected, prompting city officials to address concerns and provide guidance to residents.

Temple's Emergency Management Coordinator, along with representatives from Temple Fire and Rescue and the Temple Police Department, will also be available at the town hall meetings to address questions and concerns

The dates and venues for the town hall meetings are as follows:

Date: Wednesday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. 

Location: at Sammons Community Center Lakeview Room 2220 W Avenue D

Date:  Saturday, March 2, at 2 p.m.

Location: Grace Temple Ministries, 801 S 13th St.

Date: Tuesday, March 12, at 6 p.m.

Location: Frank W. Mayborn Civic & Convention Center (3303 N 3rd St.
