TEMPLE, Texas — Temple Fire and Rescue (TFR) has begun performing testing and maintenance on fire hydrants across the City, from rural to urban areas, according to the City of Temple.
The City said the process happens annually and is expected to last several months.
The testing is crucial to ensure that hydrants are functioning properly and can provide adequate water supply in case of a fire emergency, said the City.
Temple said regular testing allows fire departments to identify any maintenance or repair needs, such as replacing worn-out parts, clearing debris from hydrant openings or repairing damaged components.
According to the City, TFR performs testing and maintenance annually to comply with national and state regulations and takes "appropriate measures to maintain this vital firefighting resource".
