Temple Fire & Rescue douses structure fire Saturday morning, no injuries reported

Temple Fire & Rescue says the cause of the fire was determined to be a candle.

TEMPLE, Texas — Temple Fire & Rescue crews extinguished a structure fire at 1315 West Ave I. on Saturday, August 11.

According to the department, at about 9:32 a.m., crews arrived to the home on West Avenue and saw heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the structure.

The department says firefighters were able to quickly figure out that there were no occupants left inside the home, so they began protecting neighboring exposures and worked on extinguishing the flames.

The fire was under control at around 10:13 a.m. and firefighters stayed on the scene until 11:20 a.m.,  the department said.

Temple Fire & Rescue says the cause of the fire was determined to be a candle that was being used in a back room of the home.
