TEMPLE, Texas — As the holiday season is near, the spirit of giving is already in full swing.
The Temple Fire Department is once again bringing joy to local families in need through its annual Rescue Elves program. In collaboration with Temple and Belton Independent School Districts, the program aims to help children across the community experience the magic of Christmas.
The Rescue Elves program is designed to help bridge that gap, providing presents for children up to 18 years old.
If you want to make a difference this holiday season, this program offers an opportunity to give back and spread some much-needed cheer to families in Temple and Belton.
"You know, when we do our pickup event, we can see their faces and how appreciative they are," said Santos Soto with the Temple Fire Department. "They just really appreciate that somebody's there who has their back to help them still provide for their family."
The community can get involved by donating unwrapped toys and gifts or sponsoring a child's wish list. Starting next week, you can pick up a name tag at local businesses, each representing a child who would benefit from the program. Sponsoring a child’s wish list is also available online.
More fundraising efforts and activities will be hosted throughout the holiday season to support the program and bring Christmas cheer to local families. The Temple Fire Department's Rescue Elves program has been a sign of hope and goodwill for many local families, and the organization is eager to make this season even brighter as the holidays approach.
