TEMPLE, Texas — Brush collection is set to begin this week in Temple as part of the cleanup process after Central Texas was ravaged by severe storms.
According to the City of Temple, D&J Enterprises is scheduled to begin brush clean-up around the City during the week, and City crews are "actively working" to collect brush to clear roadways and help with cleanup efforts.
Residents are asked to keep brush piles separate from construction and demolition materials and place brush on the curb for pickup, away from gas lines, water meters, mailboxes, fire hydrants and public roads.
Brush combined with other materials or left in alleys will not be picked up, said the City.
The City asks residents to be patient, as the cleanup process will "take some time".
Those who wish to dispose of their own brush can do so at the Solid Waste Complex, located at 2611 E Ave H, beginning on Tuesday, May 28.
The City of Temple warns residents to beware of scammers and says they have not given any vendors the right to use their name and logo. D&J Enterprises is the only outside service the City of Temple has partnered with for emergency debris cleanup, says the City.
If large trees need to be broken up or moved, the City encourages residents to call the Crisis Cleanup Hotline at 512-201-4814.
The City also encourages residents to check in on their neighbors and community organizations to find ways to volunteer or help.
More information on brush cleanup, including maps, schedules and resources, can be found at this link or on the City of Temple Facebook page.
