TCEQ yet to approve Marlin burn pile, Mayor Byrd reports

The burn pile, consisting mainly of fallen trees and limbs from recent storms that hit Central Texas and Marlin, is large and could impact air quality.

MARLIN, Texas — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has not yet approved the burning of Marlin’s burn pile, Mayor Susan Byrd announced on Wednesday, August 7.

The City of Marlin had hoped to receive approval by today.

The burn pile, consisting mainly of fallen trees and limbs from recent storms that hit Central Texas and Marlin, is large and could impact air quality when burned, according to Byrd.

“There is no room at the burn site for additional limbs or trees until a burn can take place,” Byrd said.

She encouraged residents to be patient and place fallen limbs and trees close to the street for easy pickup by Public Works when collection resumes.

The City of Marlin's TCEQ-designated limb drop-off location is accessed from FM 147, just before reaching the spillway bridge near the water plant.
