HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas — As temperatures rise and water conservation becomes increasingly crucial, residents of Harker Heights are reminded that Stage 2 water restrictions remain in effect.
With the aim of preserving water resources and ensuring responsible usage, Stage 2 restrictions give specific guidelines for irrigation and outdoor water usage.
Under Stage 2 restrictions, residents are permitted to use irrigation systems and fill swimming pools on designated days based on their street addresses. For addresses ending in an even number, irrigation is allowed on Sundays and Thursdays, while those ending in an odd number can irrigate on Saturdays and Wednesdays.
In addition to irrigation regulations, outdoor water use is prohibited between the hours of 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.
Exceptions to this rule include the use of hand-held hoses equipped with a positive pistol grip nozzle or other devices that automatically shut off water flow when not in use, as well as hand-held buckets.
City officials say it is essential that residents monitor their irrigation systems regularly and check for any leaks to ensure compliance with the Stage 2 restrictions.
