Soles4Souls donates 500 shoes to Waco ISD students

Waco ISD said the shoes will be given to students who are in foster care or experiencing homelessness.

WACO, Texas — Waco ISD and nonprofit Soles4Souls are aiming to help students start off the school year on the right foot.

On Thursday, Aug. 15, Soles4Souls delivered 500 shoes, filling three pallets, to the district's community partner 7th and James Baptist Church. The shoes will reportedly be given to Waco ISD's "Highly Mobile Students", those in foster care or who are experiencing homelessness.

A team of church volunteers helped unload the shoes and organize them into the closet the church operates to help Waco ISD families, according to the district.

The Highly Mobile Student Services Department of Waco ISD works with local educational agencies and the Waco community to support students in mobile living situations, according to the district.

More about the department can be found on the district's website at this link.

Soles4Souls is a nonprofit organization that "turns shoes and clothing into opportunities for education and employment" for students in need, people in crisis situations and more.
