Sergeant David Starr retires after 34 years of service to Waco PD

Throughout his career, Sgt. Starr served in pivotal roles, including patrol, personnel & training, and the drug enforcement unit.

WACO, Texas —  After a 34-year career of unwavering service, the Waco Police Department says farewell to Sergeant David Starr as he embarks on a well-deserved retirement.

Sgt. Starr joined the force in 1990. Throughout his career, Sgt. Starr served in pivotal roles, including patrol, personnel & training, and the drug enforcement unit.

In recognition of his commitment, he earned a promotion to Sergeant in 2020, serving as both a patrol and drug enforcement sergeant until his retirement.

Over the years, he received 6 Commendation Awards, a Certificate of Merit, a Meritorious Unit Award, a Life Saving Award, and the prestigious title of Detective of the Year in 2015. 

The Waco Police Department expresses gratitude for Sgt. Starr's years of service, acknowledging his contributions to the force and the community in a Facebook post. 

In the post Waco PD says, "after 34 years of service, we wish Sergeant David Starr a very happy retirement! Thank you for all your work, Sergeant Starr!"
