TEMPLE, Texas — UPDATE: The pageant was rescheduled for Feb. 14, 2025.
In preparation for the upcoming Senior Women's Pageant, the organizing committee has released detailed guidelines for all participants.
Scheduled for August 2024, the event aims to celebrate the grace and wisdom of senior residents across Bell County.
Contestants must meet specific residency criteria, being full-time residents of Bell County and living either in Assisted Living, Memory Care Homes, Skilled Nursing Centers, or receiving in-home assistance from designated agencies such as 'In-Home Care Company', Home Health Agency, or Hospice.
Each contestant must be accompanied by a designated 'Fall Risk Escort', who also must be dressed formally. The escort's information must be submitted alongside the contestant's entry form, due by July 19, along with a non-refundable entry fee of $100 payable to Mercy House Temple.
Participants have the option to seek sponsorship from companies to cover their registration fees and the cost of their formal wear. The sponsoring entity will be acknowledged during the contestant's introduction.
Beyond the competition itself, participating individuals and sponsors are permitted to display company brochures at designated information tables, emphasizing the event's community engagement aspect.
The pageant will recognize winners across three distinct categories: Skilled Nursing & Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Aging in Place at Home with Assistance.
All necessary documents, including entry forms, contestant photographs, 'Philosophy of Life' statements, and signed releases for photographs/videos, must be submitted by August 9.
Following the conclusion of the pageant, any remaining funds will be generously donated to the Alzheimer’s Association.
If anyone has questions or comments they can contact Mercy House office 254-771-9911 and Lisa Smith 254-534-2938.
