Mercy House's senior beauty pageant rescheduled to February

"We really want as many senior ladies to participate [who] want to, so we pushed the date back so they could."

TEMPLE, Texas — A Central Texas assisted living facility, Mercy House, announced Friday that it is rescheduling its Diamond Divas' Pageant to next February.

The pageant, which is a senior women's pageant, was rescheduled because "too many people" signed up "too late" to participate, according to one of the organizer's Lisa Smith.

"We really want as many senior ladies to participate [who] want to," Smith said. "So we pushed the date back so they could."

The new date is Feb. 14, 2025 at Redeemer Presbyterian Church, 12 W. French Ave., in Temple at 1 p.m.

"It seemed so appropriate to have it on Valentine's Day," Smith added.

Contestants must meet specific residency criteria to take part in the pageant: Being a full-time resident of Bell County and living either in Assisted Living, Memory Care Homes, Skilled Nursing Centers, or receiving in-home assistance from designated agencies such as 'In-Home Care Company', Home Health Agency, or Hospice.
