Salvation Army Community Kitchen urgently needs volunteers for the summer

Volunteers are urgently needed to serve dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily, from now until August 31.

WACO, Texas — Salvation Army faces a shortage of volunteers to serve meals during the upcoming summer months.

The Salvation Army Community Kitchen is located downtown at 300 Webster Ave.

However, with the departure of Baylor University students for the summer, the kitchen finds itself with a significant decline in volunteer support.

Major James Taylor, commander of the local Salvation Army, emphasized the importance of volunteers in their operations.

"When Baylor University students leave for the summer, the community usually steps in to serve," Major Taylor stated. "We have faith our community will step up to help those in need."

Volunteers are urgently needed to serve dinner from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. daily, from now until August 31. The Salvation Army looks to groups, churches, associations, families, and friends to adopt a day each week to help out.

Individuals aged 16 and above, with parental supervision, or those at least 18 years old, are welcome to volunteer. Interested individuals or groups can sign up online.
