Annual Stand Down & Homeless Community Triage coming to Killeen on March 9

The event will provide those in need with a hot meal, haircuts, medical screenings, new clothing and more.

KILLEEN, Texas — Operation Stand Down Central Texas (OSDCT) is hosting its 8th Annual Spring Stand Down & Homeless Community Triage in Killeen, Texas on March 9.

According to OSDCT, the event will be held at the Killeen Civic and Conference Center, located at 3601 S W S. Young Dr., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

OSDCT said all unhoused in the community are invited to come to the event to receive support, food and services.

Services at the event will include a hot meal provided to all, haircuts, medical screenings, new clothing and shoes and various other resources available to participants.

Sponsors and collaborators of the Stand Down & Homeless Community Triage include the City of Copperas Cove, Bell County, the City of Killeen and the Central Texas Homeless Coalition.

The City of Copperas Cove said transportation will be provided to and from two locations in the city, from the Copperas Cove Public Library at 501 S Main St. at 8:45 a.m., 10:45 a.m. and 12:45 a.m.; and the Wendy's Parking lot at 2740 E. Business 190 at 8:55 a.m., 10:55 a.m. and 12:55 a.m.

Operation Stand Down Central Texas is an organization that aims to "assist homeless veterans and their families in the surrounding Central Texas community", including providing relief from the trauma and isolation of homelessness, providing short-term resources and raising community awareness. They also hold a Stand Down & Homeless Community Triage in the Fall.
