Mexia Junior High partcipates in wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The Central Texas school was a part of the wreath-laying ceremony Wednesday morning.

WASHINGTON D.C., DC — Mexia Junior High School was represented Wednesday morning at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Washington D.C. during the morning wreath laying ceremony.

Laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a way for individuals and organizations to honor the sacrifices of American service members, according to their website.

The group of students arranged the wreath laying during their Washington D.C. school trip. Eight kids total from Mexia went on the trip. Students Rowdy Burns, Tawny Treece and Caleb Shamblin participated in the wreath laying.

The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is symbolic grave for all war veterans who died and their remains have not been found or identified. The Tomb began with one unknown service member from World War I.
