MARLIN, Texas — The City of Marlin is under Stage 4 of its Emergency Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan due to a leak in its water distribution system, announced the City.
The restrictions are reportedly in place "until further notice".
A release from Mayor Susan Byrd stated that, as a result of the leak, water towers are unable to sustain adequate water pressure, which affects their ability to fill.
The City said Marlin could be without water service this weekend if the leak is not identified and repaired.
Engineers from TEEX Public Works Response Team are providing assistance to City personnel, the City of Marlin stated in a release.
Byrd asks all Marlin residents to report any suspected leaks, ground water accumulation, muddy areas or other evidence of leaks. Public Works personnel are "focused entirely" on locating and repairing the water leaks, the City said.
The City said Stage 4 water restrictions prohibit:
- car or vehicle washing – commercial or residential
- the watering of lawns and gardens – commercial or residential
- use of water for any construction purposes whatsoever
- no filling or refilling or adding water to swimming pools, wading pools and jacuzzi pools – meaning the Splash Pad at Apple Sports Park will not be functioning during the water crisis
- all other provisions listed in the City of Marlin Water Conservation and Drought Contingency Plan.
The City said restrictions apply to everyone, residents of the City or not. Violations could result in fines or penalties.
