WACO, Texas — La Vega Independent School District will launch its free summer meal program on May 28, providing free summer meals to children throughout the Central Texas community.
According to the district, the "Seamless Summer Option 2024 Summer Feeding Program" will run from May 28 to July 25, and will provide free breakfasts and lunches to children of all ages, regardless of where they live or go to school.
Breakfast and lunch will be served at all five La Vega ISD campuses, said the district, and lunch only will be served at an express location at Brame Park.
La Vega ISD said La Vega Elementary School and La Vega Intermediate School will begin serving meals on May 28, with breakfast being served from 7-8 a.m. and lunches served from 11:30 a.m.-noon. Brame Park will begin serving lunches on May 28 as well from 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
La Vega Primary School, La Vega Junior High and La Vega High School will begin serving meals on June 3, serving breakfast from 7-8 a.m. and lunches from 11-11:30 a.m. at La Vega Primary, 11 a.m.-noon at La Vega Junior High and 11:30 a.m-12:30 p.m. at La Vega High School.
Summer meal locations will reportedly be closed for Juneteenth on Wednesday, June 19 and Independence Day on Thursday, July 4.
