Killeen Fire Department recruiting team members for new fire station

The department said no certification is needed, as all recruits will be certified at the Killeen Fire Academy.

KILLEEN, Texas — Looking for a hot new job in Central Texas? The Killeen Fire Department may have one for you.

Killeen FD is accepting applications for team members to be part of the launch of its new Fire Station 4. The department said it is looking to recruit 24 new team members.

Applicants do not need to be certified, as all new recruits will be sent to the Killeen Fire Academy and Paramedic School for certification, according to the department.

Killeen FD said benefits of the job include:

  • Paid vacation, sick leave and holidays
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Firefighter and paramedic certification pay
  • Competitive salary between $57,217-$82,701 before certification and assignment pay
  • Pension plan
  • and more

Applications are open through Oct. 18. The Civil Service exam is reportedly Nov. 3, and the Fire Academy begins Jan. 20.

Fully certified firefighter and paramedic personnel will reportedly receive a $15,000 hiring bonus, and paramedic certified personnel will receive a $12,000 bonus.
