TEMPLE, Texas — Excitement is building in the heart of Temple. The Downtown Temple area is welcoming new residents as Hawn West opens its doors.
This development marks a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to bring new life into the heart of Temple while preserving its rich historical heritage.
Spearheaded by Waco-based Turner Brothers Development, the Hawn Plaza project encompasses three distinct buildings in downtown Temple.
The newly opened Hawn West, formerly known as the Sears Building, now offers 26 one-bedroom apartments of varying sizes and price points.

The Hawn Plaza project started in 2021 and is expected to reach full completion by March 2025. While construction continues on other parts of the development, Hawn West is already open and operational, offering both residential and commercial spaces.
The revitalization of these buildings, particularly the Arcadia Theater, represents a bridge between Temple's past and future. By repurposing these historic structures, the project aims to create a vibrant, mixed-use space that honors the city's heritage while meeting the needs of its growing population.
As this exciting project unfolds, it promises to be a cornerstone in Temple's downtown renaissance, offering new living spaces, entertainment venues and commercial opportunities.
The opening of Hawn West is just the beginning of what looks to be a transformative period for downtown Temple.
