COLLEGE STATION, Texas — This past Saturday, the King of Country set an all-time attendance record for a ticketed concert in the U.S.
Here’s how the city of College Station benefited from his record-breaking event.
A little over 110,000 people made their way into Kyle Field and now, College Station is receiving national recognition.
College Station's Tourism Manager, Jeremiah Cook said, “It’s just super exciting for us not just from an economic standpoint but actually seeing us play on that world stage, news stories for across the country talking about an attendance record, those types of things are huge for our community and help us propel forward.”
What is usually a difficult and slow time for hotels ended up getting a well-needed boost from the soccer match and concert the last few weekends.
“So far numbers wise this was the best start for the month of June that we’ve had in the last 2 years so that says a lot on the impact these events have on the community,” described Hilton Hotel College Station Manager, Jose Otero.
The future of summer events at Kyle field looks promising as both events brought in millions of dollars for local businesses.
Cook continued, “I think what we heard from tourists is that there’s so many more things to do here than what people recognize and I believe that people came for the soccer match and the concert got to experience just a little bit of that and we’re looking forward to welcoming them back.”
The next major event being held at Kyle Field will be when the 2024 college football season starts when Texas A&M welcomes Notre Dame into College Station for the primetime matchup of the day. College GameDay will also be in town for the first time since 2018.
